Dental bonding - a cost effective route to a great smile.

If you’re worried that excessive gaps or chipped, broken or discoloured teeth are spoiling your smile, then dental bonding (sometimes called 'composite bonding') may be the answer.

Thanks to modern composite materials, it is now possible to repair or even reshape teeth to improve their appearance and give you the smile you’ve always wanted. This is achieved by using a durable light cured composite material (the same material used for white fillings) to rebuild tooth structure and can improve smiles in a wide variety of ways including:

  • repair of chipped teeth
  • closure of gaps between teeth (particularly 'diastemas' - a pronounced gap between two front teeth) by bulding up the sides of adjacent teeth
  • reshaping of teeth
  • rebuilding of worn or broken teeth
  • masking of discolouration on tooth surface

There are two big advantages to dental bonding; firstly, unlike veneers and other similar treatments, it requires no anaesthetic or preparation of the tooth and so is completely reversible if required. And secondly, because it does not require the use of an external laboratory, it’s far more cost effective than other cosmetic treatments.

Dental bonding is not appropriate in all cases but we will be happy to advise you on whether this, or any other of the treatments we offer, are suitable for you when you attend for a routine examination.
